SEASON OVERVIEW

Oakwood Soccer League: WINTER 2025 will run for 8 weeks from Tuesday january 14th to Saturday march 8th. Tuesdays will continue to be technical, theme-based training sessions and Saturdays will serve as our Game Day where the players get the opportunity to play small-sided competition in our usual intra-squad setting.

Oakwood Soccer League is designed for players aged 5-14 years old (8th grade) and is designed and setup to be a two-day a week commitment, which includes one Training Day and one Game Day. Each season, we aim to keep at least one coach per group and have groups be no larger than 10 players where possible. Groups will be set primarily by age and level, and where they will be best suited to develop.

Age Group Information

5-7 Year Olds

Oakwood Soccer League begins with our 5-7 year old groups, who are introduced to proper technique and how to work within a team dynamic. Players are introduced to competitive games that inspire them to work with one another and put forth effort to learning how to use each surface of the foot and each aspect of technical development. Players begin to learn the basics of controlling, dribbling, passing, and shooting the ball. 

8-10 Year Olds

THE LATEST 8-10 year old groups begin to really hone in on their technique so that the basics of the game become possible and applicable in game situations. We work on attacking and defensive concepts, while teaching them how to play effectively with their teammates. In this age group we begin to introduce to them how to properly utilize their spacing and expect them to understand passing, receiving, and being organized as a team.

11-14 Year Olds

Our 11-14 year old groups are the oldest age group within Oakwood Soccer League who enjoy their last few years of recreational soccer before finishing their journey within the League. These players will all have been given the tools to play the game with a strong understanding of the technical and tactical concepts required to play at their middle school teams and prepare them for high school.
